Minimalist Christmas Mangers

Sebastian Bergne's Colour Nativity is a Contemporary Reinterpretation

As the Christmas holiday becomes increasingly secular due to younger generations' religious indifferences and the growing respectfulness towards other cultures' beliefs, products and designs like the Colour Nativity will surely continue to crop up amongst more traditional creations. The Colour Nativity is a reinterpretation of the classic manger scene, yet instead of being comprised of obvious renditions of the iconic characters, it is simply made up of seven seven hand-painted wood blocks that fit neatly in an accompanying wooden box.

Created by industrial designer Sebastian Bergne, the Colour Nativity still represents the these characters, however. They are made recognizable through the colour, proportion and place in the nativity arrangement. For those who would object to this contemporary rendering, only six Colour Nativity sets were made.
