Architect Gae Avitabile Designs a Remarkable Interior for Civico 29

Civico 29 is a luxurious cocktail bar that occupies land on Italy's western coast, halfway between Rome and Naples. The establishment exudes a playful, light, and sophisticated interior aesthetic which was designed by architect Gae Avitabile.

The designer drew inspiration from the sea. The intention was to quite literally "recreate the sensory experience of being on a beach"—from the sound and color to the touch, taste, and smell. In order to bring his vision to life, Gae Avitabile also evoked modern sensibilities, a dominant blue palette, and textured feels.

Prior to Civico 29 establishing itself in the space, the location was an ice cream parlor that had "simple, traditional interiors." Civico 29 also has beautiful outdoor seating that overlooks the sea.
