Circle of Life Artwork

Martin Hill's Depicts Circle of Life Art That Utilizes Nature

Photographer Martin Hill has collaborated with Philippa Jones to create circle of life art. Hill essentially travels around the world, using nature as his muse for a series of environmental sculptures. Hill's work is dependent on the time of day, for several of his pieces require sunlight to hit them just so in order to get the full effect. In terms of his intent with the project, Hill explains, "I hope people reflect on their relationship to natural systems and how they can help to improve it through the way they live their lives."

Hill's collection of images includes the 'Ice Circle,' a project which required ice extraction and depended on reflection to create a breath-taking effect, 'Synergy,' which was created out of an interconnected network of raupo stems and flax threads, and 'Stone Circle,' which was made out of light-weight pumice stones.
