Retrospective Luxury Slippers

These Christian Louboutin Slippers Mimic Traditional Japanese Shoes

Instead of adhering to the Louboutin aesthetic of red-lacquered soles and high heels, these Christian Louboutin slippers embody Japanese culture. The French footwear designer was commissioned by the Retrospective Exhibition in Japan to create the shoes for its opening.

The exhibition is featuring the late artist Balthus' works. The modern artist's wife wanted Louboutin to create a pair of embroidered slippers in homage to him.

The limited-edition slippers are named 'Rossinière' after the husband and wife's chalet in Switzerland. Because of their intricately embroidered and 20 pair availability, the slippers come with a hefty price tag of $2,600. They will be available for purchase at the exhibit that runs in Tokyo until the end of June.
