St. Tropez Chic

Christian Dior Resort 2009

John Galliano could not have injected more eye candy into the Christian Dior Resort 2009 collection, shown earlier this week. He wasn't just showcasing a line of fashion, he put on a real performance, tantalizing all the senses of attendees like Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Charlize Theron and Lauren Hutton.

The designs were charged with vibrant hues, crisp whites and retro prints. There were lots of ruffles, 60s florals and trapeze tops. Giant sombreros were slung around the models necks, draping off their napes in tremendous bursts of colour. There were sequins, gold and paisley prints. If I were packed a suitcase with these looks, I'd assume a ticket to St. Tropez would be quick to follow.

The collection is targeted at “women who weren't afraid to make a bold sartorial statement, one that preferably involved a whopping piece of jewelry,” Style.com notes.

The French design house showed the transitional-season line at Guastavino's restaurant.
