As an alternative to plastic, Chobani is introducing the Chobani paper cup. Already, products like cold brew coffee, coffee creamers and oatmilk from the brand can be found in paper-based packaging solutions and now, a more sustainable solution is being applied to yogurt.
The paper cup is made from 80% paperboard, which comes from responsibly sourced and renewable materials, and it does have a thin plastic lining. Although the product is made with recyclable materials, the brand recognizes that it's a challenge to find a solution that fits all across the board, since municipal-run recycling centers have their own unique rules and requirements.
The brand's oat yogurt is set to move into a paper-based cup, along with other solutions that will explore the use of less plastic and more paper.
