Salvadorean Gangsters Hide Cellphones in Bowels

Four gangsters in an El Salvador smuggled cellphones and chargers into prison to coordinate criminal activities. Roman Arevalo, the director of the prison, said they shoved the phones "far enough [into their bowals] to reach their intestines." Nice. More interesting is that Boing Boing held a comptition to see who could identify the phone from the x-ray. It's a VK530.

Implications - Boing Boing did an excellent job at taking a potentially disturbing case of criminal activity and exploiting the publicity power of the event. Companies must consider the various angles of a situation and harness any potential therein to their advantage. Various products and designs can be found in the most disturbing circumstances and should be fully explored.
