CO-URIBA Uses Facial Recognition for Seamless Experiences

CO-URIBA is the name of a cutting-edge cashierless shop where customers can select products and pay for them via facial recognition and without a wallet or smartphone. To make the most of the experience, customers register their face and credit card information in advance, and from there, they verify their identity by projecting their face on a special screen installed in the store.

This store is made possible by 3D LiDAR technology that is capable of detecting 3D information about an object within a distance of about 10 meters in real-time. This sensor is capable of identifying when items have been picked up and sold, as well as when multiple products select the same item at the same time.

The cashierless CO-URIBA store was exhibited at Retail Tech JAPAN 2022 in Tokyo, Japan.
