The Casa Sal Apartment in Barcelona is Kitchen-Centric

The Casa Sal apartment in the Poble Sec district in Barcelona has been renovated by local Spanish architecture and design firm Nook Architects by converting a standard Barcelona apartment into a retro themed dwelling by adding patterned floor tiles to divide spaces in the 19 meter long and three meter wide home. By contrasting patterned floor tiles that are found in the kitchen, the study room and the bathroom coupled with wooden flooring, the result is a softer atmosphere.

Traditionally, in Spanish culture, food takes up almost the majority of an individual’s day. Fittingly, the kitchen lies at the core of the home, linking the terrace and the bedroom areas together. "For our client, the most important part was the kitchen which had to be the heart of the home; functional, resistant, lively, and very much on the lead in regards to the rest of the room," says the architects on the kitchen.
