The Carton Closestool is a Cheap and Clean Post-Catastrophe Toilet

Food, water and shelter are considered the top priorities for survivors of natural disasters, but the designers of the Carton Closestool will remind you that sanitation is optimally important. In a community that's been destroyed by a hurricane, a flood or an earthquake, it can be very difficult to maintain cleanliness amidst the mess.

A collaboration between Homwee Technology Co. and Sichuan Changhong Electric Co., Ltd resulted in this economical and effective solution for sewage. Medical and nutritive supplies can be sent to those in need, and those very shipping boxes can be used to assemble toilet seats. Instructions for their construction would be printed right onto the crates, suggesting how two can be interlocked for optimal strength. The complete Carton Closestool can hold 70kg and be fitted with a plastic bag.
