Dressing up your dog may land you in jail if the RSPCA has their way. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals wants to take legal action against people who dress their pets like little humans.
The RSPCA thinks dogs should be treated like dogs, not little people. They take the position that in addition to being demeaning, dressing could cause overheating or inability to move freely and so should not be practiced. The only exception is for short-haired breeds that might need a bit of cover to be comfortable.
I’m not much for the whole dog-dressing phenomenon, but I’m not sure about the idea of jail as a remedy.
