Adorable Avian Gas Alerts

The Canary Carbon Monoxide Detector is Unusually Visually Appealing

Some entire families of electronics seem to have missed the boat on being manufactured with mildly attractive qualities. The Canary Carbon Monoxide Detector is a species all of its own, having been created with the an outer beauty to match its appealing insides.

Designers Matt Crowley, Lauren Meleney and Matt Blum strove to develop a poisonous gas alarm system that would shed the ugly gene as well as the more irritating mechanics of most alerts on the market. The concept began with a lovely poetic product identity that's based on the history of toxic sirens.

Modeled on the image of the charming yellow bird that would warn miners of danger in the tunnels, the Canary Carbon Monoxide Detector is cute, can be tested with a wave and a light rather than a piercing noise and comes equipped with a childproof lock.
