Imaginative Scent Accessories

Aesop's New Oil Diffuser and Wash Bags are Designed by ÉCAL Students

Australian skincare label Aesop relied on the skills of 17 ÉCAL students from the school's Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship masters class to create two new accessories. The students worked on designing an electric essential oil burner, as well as a wash bag -- made with instructions by Aesop to be "aesthetically pleasing, inventive, and sustainable." 20 projects were selected and made use of materials including cork, ceramic, hand-blown glass, textile, natural resins and wood.

One of the captivating designs is the 'Centyl diffuser' by Oubafah Nouktah, which draws in visual inspiration from utilitarian lab tools. The electric parts are encased in glass pieces that imitate the structure of a traditional Aesop bottle, held together with a magnetic power cable. Another standout design is the oil burner by Clavier Margo that takes on the form of a spinning top. The diffusers are made from cork materials and hang from black threads.
