Milk & Cookies Bakeshop Sells 'Cake Scraps in a Sad Box'

In an effort to reduce food waste, Edmonton-based bakery, Milk & Cookies Bakeshop, launched the 'Cake Scraps in a Sad Box.' The product is made from cake scraps that result from the bakers cutting the tops of cakes to make them flat. The new boxes will have a variety of delicious cake scraps (from cakes, cupcakes, and other flavorful treats) with a buttercream filling and a decadent icing layer.

The inspiration for the name Cake Scraps in a Sad Box pays homage to an employee of the bakery who came in upset and sat atop of old box eating leftover cake scraps. From that point on, the bakery has given out Cake Scraps in a Sad Box to anyone feeling upset. In addition, Milk & Cookies Bakeshop will donate $1 from each box sold to a local mental health organization.
