Brian Gartside's Drinkable Book Can Filter Contaminated Water

The Drinkable Book designed by Brain Gartside is a multifaceted take on conventionally printed novels. Not only is this book an indestructible sanitation manual, its pages can actually be used to filter contaminated water into fresh, drinkable water.

Gartside took on the project to expand the Drinkable Book from a simple sanitation manual into a fully functional water purifying system. WaterisLife recruited Gartside to help bring the novel to life based on his superb knowledge and skill in the typography field. The pages of the Drinkable Book have been converted into usable water filters made from non-toxic fonts and page ingredients that don't further contaminate the water. The goal of this book is to be able to give the Drinkable Book to third world countries so that they can learn from the text and be able to use the pages as filters for clean drinking water.
