Breast Milk Deliveries

New Service in Jakarta Helps Working Mothers Feed Their Infants

Fikri Nauval, the owner of a cargo and document shipping company, has founded a unique service in Jakarta that involves couriers making breast milk deliveries from working mothers to their infants.

Nauval, who was inspired by the idea after his wife sent her breast milk home to their baby after returning to work, believes that powdered milk simply does not stand up to breast milk in terms of nutrients. He hopes that the breast milk deliveries will help the country "build a better generation." Currently, only 38 percent of Indonesian women breastfeed their newborns.

Thus, working mothers in Jakarta can pump breast milk at their office and have it picked up by a courier to be delivered to their babies at home. The cost of each breast milk delivery is 30,000 to 40,000 rupiah (about $3.30 to $4.40 USD), reports Reuters.
