Ray Gascoigne is Bottling History With his Custom Made Bottled Mini Ships

Although we’ve all probably seen a ship in a bottle on TV or in the movies, trying to find one in today’s digital-centric age is no easy task, but thanks to Commoner’s Bottled History documentary featuring old school miniature ship builder Ray Gascoigne, we can finally get a sneak peek at the incredibly delicate and fascinating work that goes into making a ship in a bottle.

To build a detailed miniature ship you must have an expert knowledge of the many complex components of old sailing ships, and this is why Gascoigne is so great at his craft. Now an older man, Gascoigne worked as sea merchant and shipwright for most of his life, so his familiarity with these man made beasts of the sea is well learned.

Using tiny tools and a great deal of patience, Bottled History showcases the steady determination that Gascoigne needs to make his one of a kind bottled ship creations.
