Synchronized Cat Dances

'The Army of Luck' by Boris Petrovsky showcases 520 Lucky Felines

Boris Petrovsky uses 520 lucky cat talismans to create a synchronized dance sculpture titled ‘The Army of Luck,’ or ‘The Global Pursuit of Happiness.’ If you’ve ever been to an Asian household or store, it’s most likely you’ve come across these cat statues that sit by the front door. These lucky cats are used to bring prosperity and happiness with their paw gestures that reels in fortune.

Petrovsky’s fleet of golden felines simultaneously move, and can perform 25 different gestures and even do the ‘Mexican Wave’ dance. They’re programmed to move with audience interaction through text; certain dancing lucky kittens will raise their hands to form letters and words.

Boris Petrovsky’s The Global Pursuit of Happiness was an exhibition during the Art Karlsruhe fair in Germany.
