The 'Book Garden' is the Largest Bookstore in the World

Lovers of literature may have to book a flight to check out Iran's 'Book Garden' -- the world's largest bookstore. The large complex was developed with the intention of encouraging Iranian children to be "active and creative through modern methods and equipment." Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf noted that he hopes the facility will serve as a cultural center, attracting people of all walks of life and encouraging everyone to learn.

True to its name, the 'Book Garden' features a green roof that's open to the public. The building's interior measures 154,000 square feet, which works out to be about 12 miles of shelved books. Book Garden is situated in the midst of an academic complex which includes "movie theaters, science halls, classrooms, a prayer room and a restaurant."
