L'Oréal is Launching an Eco-Friendly Biotherm Bottle in 2025

L'Oréal is working with French biotech specialist Carbios on a fully recycled PET bottle made with enzymatic recycling technology to produce an indefinitely recyclable Biotherm bottle. Recently, the companies announced a pilot-phase cosmetic bottle made with the technology and it's set to launch at a commercial scale in 2025.

Jacques Playe says that "We have been working with Carbios since 2017 to develop this first bottle made from PET derived from enzymatic recycling technology, an alternative to mechanical recycling." Thanks to an enzyme, this disruptive technology boasts the ability to depolymerize and indefinitely recycle PET plastic of all kinds, including those that are clear, opaque, colored or complex in form.

Since the companies have been working together under a consortium, it is possible that this technology could be applied to many other products from major brands.
