Morphing Musician Portraits

The 'Binary Prints' Series Radically Changes in the Dark

Changing completely when the lights are off, 'Binary Prints' by artist Alex Trochut morph in the dark. When the lights are on, the Binary Prints series looks like a collection of regular portraits. However, as soon as the lighting changes, so do the portraits. Regular faded faces evolve into their exciting equivalents that glow in the dark.

Trochut collaborated with electronic musicians such as James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem to create Binary Prints. Each piece features the visage of a different musician.

The artist chose to collaborate with electronic musicians so that he could explore their dichotomous lifestyle. Just like the paintings, the artists change their personas when night comes. According to Trochut, Binary Prints "shows the artists emerging into their nocturnal personas, bringing them into focus, from a anonymous being to an icon of music and sound."
