Aptly named outdoor technology company Outdoor Technology is launching the BIG Turtle Shell boombox, an upgraded version of its old Turtle Shell speaker, which borrows from the company's other shelled-creature-inspired speaker, the Armadillo.
What makes the BIG Turtle Shell stand out -- apart from the fact that it's big -- is the fact that it can double as a portable charger. This is made possible by the addition of a 7,800 mAh lithium-ion battery and a USB charging port. The battery has enough juice to charge an iPhone 4 times.
The BIG Turtle Shell pumps out 110 decibels of sound for up to 16 hours at a time. It is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 that works up to a 10 meter range. The speaker is clearly intended for the outdoors with its shock-proof, dust-proof and water-resistant design.
