The Beijing National Hotel Breeds Natural Life Within

The primary purpose of architecture is no longer to shut nature out, for the Beijing National Hotel demonstrates a contemporary interest in bringing organic life into the interior.

Emergent Architecture has plans in place to begin this colossal project near the airport of the Chinese capital city, so to impress international visitors who arrive for a stay of either business or pleasure. The tri-ringed membrane of the building will be packed with 1,500 guest rooms and include a number of chambers for work conferences. The most impressive features of the structure are the three enormous ETFE domes, and what is found beneath them.

The Beijing National Hotel will be the temporary home to tourists, but 10,000 square meters of interior rainforests will call these spaces home. There's nothing like visiting a bustling urban center only to find yourself surrounded in nature.
