This revamped beehive design produces honey on tap. Created by Australian beekeepers Stuart and Cedar Anderson, the Flow Hive allows you to gather honey without having to open the hive. This means the bees inside the honeycomb are left undisturbed.
The key is a honeycomb frame containing partially formed honeycomb cells, which encourages bees to use their own wax to complete to comb and fill it with honey. The new beehive design has a tap-like tool that splits cells vertically inside the comb, which enables honey "to flow down to a sealed trough at the base of the frame and out of the hive" according to the Flow Hive site.
The hive will be available following a Kickstarter campaign set to launch on February 23rd.
