Sixteen US towns named Springfield are battling it out to show they're as good as their cartoon namesake in The Simpsons.

The Battle of Springfield was put in place ahead of the launch of the The Simpsons Movie, with the winning town to host the film's premiere in July. 16 Springfields were asked to participate, and judging will based on how well on real life Springfield's residents can demonstrate links to the Simpsons family.
