This Robot Can Operate At Depths Of Up to 1,500 Meters

A group of engineers and robotics experts working out of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence have developed an innovative underwater robot that offers the advantage of being able to utilize a pair of arms to quickly and easily alter its orientation and direction with the direction of voice commands and a physical controller.

The Cuttlefish AUV, which was created as part of the Mare-IT venture, is more than capable of operating at depths of up to 1.5 km. Fitted with as many as eight thrusters, this particular underwater vehicle can travel in every direction without impediment due to the fact that its arms can be folded and stowed away when not in use. The robot also features a trio of cameras and handy LED lights.

Designed for commercial use, the Cuttlefish AUV is poised to be a pioneer of underwater robotics.
