Elegantly Asymmetrical Fashion Designs

Maison Margiela's FW 19 Presentation Focuses on Restraint

Maison Margiela debuted its strongly asymmetrical fashion designs during Paris Fashion Week. They proved to be a little reserved. For the Fall/Winter 2019 collection, creative director John Galliano embraced the concept of a "purified sense of restraint." He was successful in extracting the essence of the idea as upon observation, the silhouettes in the capsule feature an interesting tailored edge that brought you close but the vibe was one that softly pushed you away.

The asymmetrical fashion designs predominantly rely on a muted color palette, with black and grey having a dominant presence. The silhouettes boast a rather deconstructed aesthetic with traditional materials — like herringbone, Harris tweet, etc., speaking to another theme of the show which was the idea of "degeneration" and the "sensory overload" — perhaps a reference to the information age of today.
