Ant-Infested Art Galleries

Rafael Gomezbarros' Giant Insects Takes Over the Saatchi Gallery

While no one would willing go to ant-infested art galleries, people might want to make an exception for The Saatchi Gallery -- a venue that has been dubbed "the world’s number one museum on social media." Those who will be in the greater London area sometime before the beginning of November will have a chance to check out artist Rafael Gómezbarros' latest installation involving his famous giant insect sculptures. They have taken over buildings in Bogota, Colombia, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and now ant-infested art galleries.

Clustering along white walls, this installation will make people shudder. The sculptures are made out of resin, fiber glass, and human skull casts. The exhibit, titled Casa Tomada (Taken House), is inspired by the duality of the insect itself. Ant-infested art galleries can be more than a scary annoyance, but a symbol of hard labor and cooperation as well.
Beyond the bugs, the museum’s other off-beat exhibitions are also a must-see for those attending Trend Hunter’s London innovation conference.
