'AntiFake' Uses AI to Prevent AI from Duplicating your Voice

'AntiFake AI' is a new free-to-use tool created by Ning Zhang, a professor of computer science and engineering at Washington University. Zhang created the tool in order to protect individuals from having their voice or likeness "deepfaked," which refers to using AI to have individuals say, or do, something on voice or video, that they did not actually do.

Zhang states that the AntiFake AI can be applied to videos or voice recordings before these recordings are published. Then, when the recording is passed through, AntiFake AI slightly alters the recorded signal in a way that makes the alterations undetectable for human listeners, but makes the content significantly harder for AI to understand and replicate certain crucial vocal characteristics. According to Zhang, the tool is more than 95% effective at thwarting AI deepfake creation.
