Apple might be trying to revolutionize the checkout system in-stores, but the latest Amex Express Checkout program is set to make a difference with online purchases. American Express cardholders will "pay for goods and services on web, mobile and in apps with a single password that cardholders already have and use to access their Amex accounts — not unlike PayPal’s password-based checkout option," explains Tech Crunch.
Amex Express Checkout is set to partner with Stripe in order to make the transition to this program more effortless. For now, a small group of retailers including Burberry, the Gap, Hulu, Ticketmaster and Avis Car Rental are using Amex Express Checkout. Since it taps into something customers are already using, it's a system that is sure to find traction sooner than later.
