Nickolay Lamm's Newest Project Examines American BMI Against Others

If you have ever wondered what the average American BMI looks like compared to other countries like France, Japan and the Netherlands, you have Nickolay Lamm to thank for making your dream a reality.

The artist and researcher created a series of digital images portraying the middle aged men standing next to each other. This was done to have a visual representation of different the differences in body mass index.

While the average middle aged male American BMI is 29, in Japan it's as low as 23.7. Lamm received the data from the countries being compared. BMI is determined by taking one's height and weight measurements. This project provides insight into American obesity rates.
