Paris Recently Saw the Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2014 Couture Show

Large lights at the backboard set the stage (or catwalk) for the new Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2014 Couture collection. Angular triangle motifs in the form of cut-outs on the body and pointing out peplum were strongly shown. A large number of animal prints and some bold colors mixed with revealing tailoring to make the room feel like it could be a wild night club. The models had their hair pulled back to reveal some serious smoky eye and stunning red lips.

Although Style.com assessed the Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2014 Couture collection to be vaguely ethnic themed, I’m seeing more of an ancient Egyptian motif. The stripes at the bottom of the pointed peplum, the leopard print, large ornate necklaces and the beading down the front of one of the first looks are all call-backs to Egyptian fashion history.
