LEGO Sound Boards

Alex Allmont Created a Beat-Mixing Machine Using LEGO

Alex Allmont is an artist and technology geek who infused his love for both subjects in this beat-mixing machine. The entire machine is structured out of LEGO pieces and it truly fascinating.

He aptly dubbed his creation the ‘Play House’ and it is essentially an automata that generates house music. The sounds it creates are not the mainstream high-bass sounds you are probably envisioning though. In fact, the sounds are low and hypnotic sounds that are true to acid house music.

'Play House' was created for AudioGraft 2014 and was commissioned by Oxford Contemporary Music. It was also built with mechanisms from LEGO Technic. Though it is technological, it also is extremely playful and comical in a way because the artist infused LEGO pieces that were not needed like trees and people.
