At 83, Bette Calman Does ‘The Peacock' Like a Breakdancer

Bette Calman is an 83-year-old yoga instructor who, at her age, would put the vast majority of us to shame with her incredible physical and mental discipline.

Australia-born Calman has been teaching the Indian discipline for over 40 years and has not stopped ever since. As the images show, the nimble grandmother excels at her craft.

I have to admit I was blown away when I saw the first photo in the gallery which shows the lady doing the very difficult Peacock Pose, in which the practitioner transfers their entire body weight to their upper body, balancing their lower body in the air. We see many of the best breakdancers—most of whom are significantly younger than Calman—serve this move up on the floor. Simply amazing!
