The Aero-Flip Blade Wind Turbine Reduces Sound and Cost

Many of the controversies surrounding the introduction of wind turbines into residential areas just might be solved in this Aero-Flip Blade concept. With a couple of the major complaints being noise level and cost, Bruce Lin has worked to improve upon existing models.

After quite a bit of experimentation with different arrangements of fins, the designer settled on a simplified setup that lacked the fuss of too many blades. The benefits to the resultant prototype included a reduction in the amount of material used, a decrease in the number of moving parts and and altogether more efficient system of generating electricity. Six long vanes form an eggbeater type of vertical axis wind turbine. The real innovation behind the Aero-Flip Blade is its hinged fins that catch gusts from no matter which angle they approach.
