Achromatic Admixed Art

Dourian Gourg's Adahy Series Creates a Colorless Visual Trance

Graphic designer and photographer Dorian Gourg's latest body of work titled 'Aday Series' is a project that best resembles a kaleidoscope that has been drained of all of its color. These black and white drawings were inspired from the artist's travels to New York and South America. The drawings represent the differences in landscape and culture between the two places. The artist pays careful attention to lines, detailing and gray tones to illustrate the contrasts between the two places.

Gourg draws the parallels between the modernity and urbanized hot spots seen in New York versus the areas of open landscapes and wildlife in South America. In a few of his drawings, you can see the wildlife faintly in the background, while the chaos that represents modernity sits at the very front. Dorian Gourg's work helps narrate the way that technology and modernization has taken over the natural beauty of such places like South America.
