Suspended Sapling Rings

The Ackroyd and Harvey 'History Trees' Meld Nature with Olympic Spirit

The Ackroyd and Harvey 'History Trees' were one of the many ways the Olympic Delivery Authority has transformed the London landscape to embody the spirit of the games.

These permanent metal rings have been installed in 10 different locations. Each weigh 500 kg and span 6 meters in diameter. Inscribed on the inner side of each ring is a double line containing a broad breadth of information relevant to the story of the Olympic site over the centuries. Research was provided by the Museum of London to accurately emboss the rings.

Ackroyd and Harvey intend for the Olympic park to transform as the trees do, but hope, for the history of the site, to stay held among the branches.
