Michelin "Chess" Car

Thijs van der Zanden & Frans Hegge of Belgium submitted this vehicle design as part of the 2008 Michelin Challenge Designâ„¢. Titled the "Chess" car, the vehicle features two portions - the "motor" (the part that makes it go) and the "cabin" (the part that holds the passengers) that move independently of each other. Through sensors, the "Chess" car could detect possible collisions or accidents and then move the passenger container away from the point of impact.
