Acadia Tree Tower Gives Urban Life a Tiny Topographical Footprin

Land in the city increases in value the more the metropolis gets built up, so an infrastructural solution like the Acadia Tree Tower may offer an alternative to swallowing up green space or even increasing urban sprawl.

Petr Pospisil of the Czech Republic is the architect behind the concept for this skyscraper. It's unusual form is inspired by the way trees occupy space from the earth's surface up, beginning with a relatively tiny point of contact, and branching out up above. Each building will be supported by three trunks that allow built property or park land to continue beneath, and the shafts will join together into high-density bird's nests. The Acadia Tree Tower will house residential, commercial and recreational spaces, and actively harness renewable energy with solar panels, turbines and rainwater collection.
