The Hodinkee A Clock in the Sidewalk film examines the history of a fully functional clock that has been embedded in a Manhattan sidewalk since 1889.

This historic clock has only once been repaired in 1940. Since the time of its 19th century released, it has accounted for tens of millions of seconds, a product of its 113 year life span.

The piece was initially developed by jeweler William Barthman who wanted to place it in front of his store in the hopes of attracting more customers. Along with employee Frank Homm, the two put together what would become a New York City relic, relied on for decades to come for the time of day.
