Skin-Like Chairs

'A Body of Skin' is a Seat That Looks Similar to Flesh

A Body of Skin is a design by Studio 9191 that takes on the appearance of human flesh. While this may not look all that appealing, it's comfort level might change people's minds.

There is more to the chair than simply function. It is also symbolic of how people feel about themselves. In order to experience this comfort of the seat, one must make contact with it. In essence Studio 9191 is trying to make people recognize the value of becoming comfortable in one's own skin, while producing a marketable chair.

Silicone was the main product used for the building of the chair, as it looks similar to skin (an important element when thinking about the products used for the design). Photo Credits: designboom, 9191
