Huge Fire-Breathing Robots

‘Giant Torayan' is Highlight of Roppongi Art Night

The Japanese can never get enough of their robots, and that was in evidence again at Roppongi Art Night, an art festival designed to "fuse art with the urban landscape."

According to organizers, the event is for the purposes of showing off the artistic attractions of Tokyo, along with changing the image and reality of the Roppongi district, a tough nightlife area of the city.

Evidently that’s where sculptor Kenji Yanobe’s Giant Torayan robot, a 24-foot tall monstrosity, comes in. It attracts the right types of crowds that the city hopes will help transform the neighborhood.

The robot is able to not only spit out fire, but sing and dance as well. Now that I would like to see.
