This 24 hour hotline is designed to help Syrian refugees flee their country. Designed by fellow refugee Mohammed Abu Amar, the hotline aids those in need to cross the Mediterranean by offering practical information such as weather forecasts and technical assistance.
Abu Amar created the 24 hour hotline following his own experience fleeing Syria with his family in 2013. The perilous journey cost him both legs and significantly impacted his children psychologically. Now he attempts to help others avoid danger and prevent them from to turning to smugglers, who often betray them in the treacherous waters. Currently based in Hamburg, Germany, Abu Amar provides refugees en route with information so they can better navigate their boats across the river.
