'2022 YutLik: The Translated Chinese Calendar' Reinvents Tradition

'2022 YutLik: The Translated Chinese Calendar' is a contemporary version of "your grandparents' calendar, now in English" and pays tribute to its founders' heritage.

Promoted on Kickstarter, the calendar is inspired by traditional Chinese calendars found hanging in the homes of grandparents, inside local restaurants and supermarkets. After posting calendar pages on the Instagram account @yutlik.calendar for the past year, Sally Fung and Jason Soy, a designer and writer duo, are putting together physical copies of the 2022 YutLik. The long-awaited calendar highlights important dates, the lunar date, solar terms, daily dos and don'ts, auspicious directions, zodiacs of the day, lucky hours and even dream analyses from Mr. Zhou Gong.

Fung and Soy teamed up to create "projects to help Asians reconnect with their roots and heritage," with YutLik aiming to offer "an English translation of the auspicious Chinese calendar for those who may not be fluent in Chinese."

Each copy of the 2022 Yutlik is divided into two booklets, featuring 4" x 6" tear away pages with a sleek aesthetic that blends traditional motifs with modern design lines. The calendar is planned to ship in December of 2021.
