Prada's Mary Jane Boots Have Built-In Shoes

Prada’s Mary Jane leather boots are the boots that are shoes, or perhaps they are shoes that are boots. Either way, these two-in-ones are definitely footwear we haven’t seen before on the runway.

The first pair of these Mary Jane styled boots I saw were the flesh-colored ones with the integrated bright red, chunky-heeled, strapped shoe for sale on Net-A-Porter for $1,500. They are part of the Runway to Green program the fashion world has set in motion to raise funds to support environmental causes.

I must admit this Prada pair does not grab me; they seem to have more of a comic-book-illustration inspiration rather than high-fashion footwear. However, after seeing them in other colors, the style is starting to grow on me. My favorite are the blue suede boots topping off blue-buttoned, black Mary Janes, but I’m also fond of the python print and metallic rose fabric versions.
