American content delivery company Cloudfare has announced the launch of two new products for smartphone users called the 'Zero Trust SIM' and the 'Zero Trust for Mobile Operators,' both of which center around securing corporate phones.
The Zero Trust SIM has been designed to effectively secure all data packets that exit a given smartphone. In addition, it can be accessed and operated through already-existing mobile device management platforms as a full-fledged eSIM. With security in mind, the eSIM will also be locked to users' devices, which, in turn, will lessen the chance of SIM-swapping attacks.
"Zero Trust SIM provides defense in depth. A VPN layer is one of those components, but doesn’t remove the need to still deploy cellular connectivity across all of your mobile devices today, and traditional ‘AnyConnect-style’ VPNs do nothing to stop attackers moving laterally once they’re inside the VPN," said Cloudflare CTO John Graham-Cumming.
