Playfully Assembling Digits

Jamie Tatalab Designs Game-Like Numbers for Yorokobu Magazine

In his artist statement regarding the numbers he designed for Yorokobu magazine, designer Jaime Tatalab explains that he has always had a deep dislike towards math and this project helped him start to "feel a truce."

Staying far away from the boredom and monotonous strategy of equations and calculations, Tatalab infuses his numbers with a playful energy, turning each one into a miniature game that is enticingly fun. Bright, primary colors give the designs a child-like appeal that removes any trepidation or reservations we may have when presented with a series of digits. Tubes, balls and cubes compose the creative numbers with little arrows that act as assembly instructions as they fill in the lines and curves.

Math would be so much more fun if it was taught with these Yorokobu numbers.
