Wilhelmsen’s Metaphysical 365 Knitting Clock Knits While Telling Ti

Norwegian product designer Siren Elise Wilhelmsen bases her practice between the city of Bergen, in Norway and Berlin, Germany. She is commonly known to produce and design products with traditional designs, transforming them into complex mechanical products. Inspired by the desire to find a way to provoke thought and challenge common perspectives pertaining to daily rituals, cultures and objects, she has created the 365 Knitting Clock.

The clock tells the time by mechanically knitting a scarf during the length of a year, creating a personalized knitwear at the end of 365 days. The clock is the witness to Wilhelmsen’s thoughtful design aesthetics in which she demonstrates extreme attention to detail to the design of the clock, and at the same time invokes the user’s thoughts and perception of time, reminding us that time is always of the essence, whether we feel or sense it.
