AKER Supplies Homeowners with a Complete Set of Urban Farming Equipment

The same group that launched the Open Source Beehives Project is now starting a new initiative that makes it easy to acquire urban farming equipment.

Named AKER, this new campaign empowers people to provide their own food by supplying flat-pack, non-toxic plywood frames for fresh produce, keeping hens, composting and interior air filtration. Building off of the success of the last project, there are even some structures to house bees and produce honey.

Created with 3D design software, digital files are also available to create these plywood structures locally with access to a CNC router. With ample outdoor space, it's exciting to think that you could begin to produce your own vegetables, eggs, honey, compost and poultry with this backyard kit.
