India’s first Rural Olympics were held at Kila Raipur, Punjab in 1933. Since then, thousands of sports enthusiasts, stuntmen, and fitness fanatics have come together each year for the 4-day event.
The traditional competition includes stomach stomping, rope bending, bicycle-lifting with a device clenched in the teeth, and weight-lifting by attaching the weights to the participant’s ears. There are cart, elephant, dog and tractor races as well as an extreme kite-flying competition.
